Last updated: 10 October 2026
1. Who we are
Viper Wave ("the app", "the game") is published by Vivid Vision Designs Ltd ("we", "us", "our"), a company registered in England and Wales, company number 16091475.
For anything in this policy, including any request about your personal data, write to:
Email: appprivacy@vividvdesigns.com
Company number: 16091475
We are the data controller for the limited personal data described below. Where advertising is concerned, Google acts as a separate or joint controller for the data it collects through its own advertising network, and its own privacy policy governs what it does with that data.
2. The short version
- We do not ask you for your name, your email address, or any other detail about you. There is no account, no sign-up and no log-in.
- The game keeps your progress on your own device. Your score, your coins, your level and your settings never leave it.
- The one thing that does reach the outside world is advertising. Adverts in Viper Wave are supplied by Google AdMob, and Google collects data about your device in order to serve and measure them.
- You decide what Google may use. In the UK, the EEA and Switzerland you are asked before any personalised advertising happens, and on iOS you are also asked by Apple whether the app may track you. You can change your mind at any time in Settings → Privacy → Advert privacy choices.
- Deleting the app deletes everything we hold on your device. We have no copy of it.
The rest of this policy sets this out properly.
3. What the app stores on your device
Viper Wave keeps the following on your device, in the app's own private storage. None of it is transmitted to us or to anyone else.
Your progress and preferences
Your high score, coins, rainbow stars, gems, level, lives, items bought in the in-game shop, your chosen music track, and your sound and music settings.
And nothing else. Earlier versions of this policy described a plain-text diary of play, written one file a day and readable in the iOS Files app, and a hidden testing mode that could serve it to a browser on your own Wi-Fi. Neither is in the app any more. The published Viper Wave keeps no record of how you play, creates no folder in Files, and cannot answer on a network. Those were development tools, they are now compiled out of every version anybody but us can install, and the permissions that went with them have been taken out of the app as well.
Legal basis (UK/EU GDPR): our legitimate interests in providing the game (Article 6(1)(f)), and performance of our agreement with you to provide it (Article 6(1)(b)). As this data stays on your device and does not identify you, it is in practice outside the scope of data protection law — but we treat it carefully regardless.
4. Advertising
Viper Wave is free and is paid for by advertising. Adverts are supplied by Google AdMob, part of Google Ireland Limited (for users in the UK, the EEA and Switzerland) or Google LLC (elsewhere).
Viper Wave shows two kinds of advert:
- Rewarded adverts — you choose to watch one in exchange for something in the game, such as an extra life, a continue, free coins or a doubled prize. You always see what you get before you start, and you can always decline.
- Interstitial adverts — a full-screen advert shown occasionally when a game ends. New players are not shown one for their first few games.
What Google collects
To serve, cap, measure and bill for these adverts, Google may collect and process:
- Device identifiers — on iOS, the Identifier for Advertisers (IDFA), only if you allow tracking when Apple asks. If you do not, Google uses no cross-app identifier.
- Your IP address, from which an approximate location (typically your country or region) may be derived. Viper Wave does not request or use precise GPS location, and the app asks for no location permission at all.
- Device and app information — device model, operating system version, language, screen size, the app you are using and its version, network type.
- Advert interaction data — which adverts were shown, whether they were viewed, closed, or clicked, and how long they were on screen.
Google may use this to show you adverts relevant to your interests, to limit how often you see the same advert, to detect fraudulent or invalid activity, and to measure how adverts perform. Where you have consented, Google may combine it with data held about your device from other apps and sites.
We do not receive any of this personal data. What reaches us from Google is aggregate reporting — how many adverts were shown, how many were watched, what they earned — with no information about any individual.
What you are asked, and when
- In the UK, the EEA and Switzerland, a consent form appears before any advertising is personalised. You can consent, manage individual purposes and vendors, or refuse outright. Refusing is a first-class option, on equal footing with consenting — refuse and the game still works, paid for by non-personalised adverts.
- On iOS, Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt asks separately whether Viper Wave may track you across other companies' apps and websites. If you say no, no IDFA is used and no cross-app tracking takes place. Saying no costs you nothing in the game.
- In US states with privacy legislation (California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah and others), you can opt out of the sale or sharing of your personal information for targeted advertising. The option appears in the app.
Changing your mind
Open Settings in the game, then Privacy → Advert privacy choices. The same form reopens and your earlier answer can be changed, at any time, as easily as it was given. Apple's tracking permission is changed in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
Legal basis: your consent (Article 6(1)(a) UK/EU GDPR, and regulation 6 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations) for personalised advertising and for any storage of or access to information on your device that is not strictly necessary. For non-personalised advertising, fraud prevention and the basic serving of adverts, our and Google's legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) in funding a free game.
Google's own policies
What Google does with the data it collects is governed by Google, not by us:
- Google Privacy Policy — https://policies.google.com/privacy
- How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services — https://policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
- Google advertising controls — https://adssettings.google.com
5. The App Store
Viper Wave is distributed through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the download and holds its own records of it, under Apple's privacy policy (https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/). If you have agreed in iOS to share analytics with app developers, Apple may give us aggregate, anonymised figures about crashes and usage. We cannot identify you from them.
Viper Wave contains no in-app purchases. We never see, handle or store payment details of any kind.
6. What we do not do
For the avoidance of doubt, Viper Wave:
- does not ask for or collect your name, email address, telephone number or postal address;
- does not use GPS or request location permission;
- does not access your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, calendar, health data or files;
- does not have accounts, log-ins, leaderboards or any social feature;
- does not sell your personal data for money;
- does not use any analytics, crash-reporting or attribution service beyond Google's advertising SDK;
- contains no third-party software development kits other than Google Mobile Ads and Google's User Messaging Platform.
7. International transfers
Google is a global organisation and may process advertising data outside the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Where it does, Google relies on the UK and EU Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, the EU–US Data Privacy Framework and its UK extension, as applicable. Details are in Google's privacy policy and in its business data-transfer terms.
We ourselves hold no personal data, so we transfer none.
8. How long data is kept
- On your device: until you delete it in the game, or delete the app. Deleting Viper Wave removes your progress permanently. We hold no backup and cannot restore it.
- By Google: according to Google's own retention schedules, set out in its privacy policy. We have no control over them.
- By us: we retain no personal data. Our advertising reports are aggregate figures only.
9. Your rights
Under the UK GDPR and the EU GDPR you have the right to:
- be informed about how your data is used — this policy;
- access the personal data held about you;
- rectify inaccurate data;
- erase your data ("the right to be forgotten");
- restrict processing;
- object to processing based on legitimate interests, including profiling for direct marketing;
- data portability;
- withdraw consent at any time, as easily as you gave it;
- not be subject to decisions based solely on automated processing producing legal or similarly significant effects — we make none.
How to exercise them. Because we hold no data that identifies you, the fastest route is usually direct:
- To erase everything the app holds: delete Viper Wave from your device. That is complete and immediate.
- To change or withdraw your advertising consent: Settings → Privacy → Advert privacy choices in the game, and iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
- For data held by Google: contact Google, whose privacy policy explains how. We cannot access, correct or delete it on your behalf.
For anything else, write to us at the address in section 1. We will respond within one month. We may ask for information to establish which data, if any, relates to you — if we cannot identify you in our records, we will say so plainly rather than ask you to prove who you are.
Complaints. If you believe we have handled your data wrongly, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority:
- United Kingdom: Information Commissioner's Office, https://ico.org.uk, 0303 123 1113.
- European Economic Area: your national data protection authority.
- Switzerland: the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner.
10. Information for United States residents
This section applies to residents of US states with comprehensive privacy legislation, including California (CCPA/CPRA), Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Virginia, Texas, Oregon and Montana.
Categories of personal information collected. Through Google's advertising SDK: identifiers (an advertising identifier where permitted, and IP address), internet or network activity (advert interactions, app usage), coarse geolocation inferred from IP address, and commercial information in the form of inferences drawn for advertising. We collect none of these ourselves.
Sensitive personal information. None is collected. We do not collect precise geolocation, racial or ethnic origin, religious beliefs, health, sex life, sexual orientation, biometric or genetic data, or the contents of communications.
"Sale" and "sharing". We do not sell personal information for money. However, the use of advertising identifiers for cross-context behavioural advertising may constitute a "sale" or "sharing" under California law and "targeted advertising" under other state laws. You may opt out using the privacy option in the app, which also honours the Global Privacy Control signal where Google supports it.
Your rights. To know, access, delete and correct; to opt out of sale, sharing and targeted advertising; to limit the use of sensitive personal information (we collect none); to data portability; and not to be discriminated against for exercising any of them. We do not offer financial incentives and nothing in the game is withheld from a player who opts out — the game is identical either way.
To exercise these rights, use the in-app option or write to us at the address in section 1. Authorised agents may act on your behalf with written permission.
11. Children
Viper Wave is a general-audience game and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and the app asks for no personal information from anyone.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child under 13 has provided personal information through the app, please contact us at the address in section 1 and we will delete anything we hold.
Parents can restrict advertising and tracking for a child's device using iOS Settings → Screen Time → Content & Privacy Restrictions, where "Allow Apps to Request to Track" can be switched off entirely.
12. Security
Your progress is held inside the app's own sandbox on your device, protected by iOS's own file protection and by your device passcode. We hold no servers and no database of players, so there is no central store of personal data to be breached.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Advertising data travels to Google over encrypted connections, and its security from that point is governed by Google's own measures.
13. Links and third-party content
Adverts shown in Viper Wave may link to websites and app listings operated by others. We do not control them, we do not endorse them, and we are not responsible for their content or their privacy practices. Once you leave the app, this policy no longer applies — read theirs.
14. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the app changes or the law does. The date at the top of the page shows when it was last revised. Material changes — particularly any change to what is collected or why — will be made clear in the app before they take effect, and where the law requires consent we will ask for it afresh.
Continuing to use Viper Wave after a change takes effect means you accept the updated policy.
